As a leader in the materials handling industry, Conner Industries recognizes
the importance of our environmental stewardship and we are committed to the responsible use of our natural resources.
Conner's utilization and promotion of wood products is the centerpiece of this commitment.
Wood products are the most environmentally sensible products for packaging, crating and shipping applications
Wood is strong, sustainable, recyclable and biodegradable
Wood's Advantages:
Each tree that is harvested is replaced with young trees that remove carbon from the atmosphere at a much higher rate than older forests
The manufacturing of Wood products uses less energy, creating less pollution
The energy used in and pollution created by the manufacturing of steel and plastic are much greater than that of wood products manufacturing
Non-wood products come at a much greater environmental cost than wood
Iron ore and petroleum products used in making steel and plastic are non-renewable natural resources
Wood products are a real renewable natural resource
Our Commitment
Conner serves as a link between our forest products suppliers and our customers and we
believe that environmental responsibility must be practiced throughout the life cycle of all wood products
From the time a plantation tree is planted to the point at which a consumer product is delivered
in a wooden crate or on a wooden pallet, we want to know that the trip has been environmentally sound
Although we do not own forestland, we demand strong environmental practices from our suppliers
Conner Industries recognizes third party certification programs that monitor the forest products
industry such as the Forest Stewardship Council, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the International Standards Organization (ISO 14004)
Total fiber utilization is the foundation of our internal environmental effort.
Conner takes wood products that would be destined for low value end use and turn them into valuable packaging and crating components
Waste is not an option; every piece of wood is used. If Conner cannot produce a value added product out of even the smallest byproduct,
we grind it into fuel used in co-generation
