"No Bug" mark removed as the IPPC approved logo

This logo was approved in March 2002 by the United Nation's International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to certify that solid wood pallets, crates, and other packaging material shipped internationally was properly treated for pests.  The ownership of the logo is being challenged by a Pennsylvania company.  Because of the threat of legal action against ALSC, its NMWP accredited agencies, Department of Agriculture/Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Food and IPPC, the logo is being withdrawn from use effective June 26, 2002.  Creation of a  new logo for use under the IPPC is underway and should be completed in approximately five months.

The American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) is requesting that each agency remove the "No Bug" logo from every stamp in use.  The European Union (EU) has indicated that the remaining part of the stamp which includes the agency logo, HT, US, and the facility number is acceptable and meets the EU emergency measures.
