Policies and Goals

Conner’s Sustainability Policies, Principles, and Goals

While our core business of producing industrial lumber and transportation packaging goes a long way toward supporting supply chain sustainability for our manufacturing customers, we don’t stop there.  We’ve always had an eye on making green decisions for our company and customizing supply chain sustainability solutions for our customers, but we’ve taken that a step further to include specific sustainability policies and goals.

Goal Highlights

Conner is working on ways to reduce our energy usage – everything from electricity to gas and water.  We aim for a 30% reduction by 2030.

We are committed to working with our customers to use fewer materials in their packaging and we’re pursuing alternative packaging materials.

Conner is diligently working at each of our manufacturing locations to improve fiber utilization and reduce waste by 30% within the next 10 years.

Principles of Continual Progress

Conner produces packaging and design solutions that impact supply chains all over the world.  Together with our partners, our goal is to develop, design, and manufacture products that minimize environmental impact through the following four Principles of Continual Progress and the specific goals outlined below.

  • Serve as Responsible Stewards – From responsible sourcing to material utilization, we strive to be better today than yesterday. We aim to make 100% of our wood materials sourced from organizations that adhere to FSI and FSC policies guidelines.  Conner is diligently working at each of our manufacturing locations to improve fiber utilization and reduce waste by 30% within the next 10 years.

  • Challenge the Status Quo – The conversion of raw materials into transportation packaging involves manufacturing processes derived from both renewable and non-renewable resources. From resource allocation and energy usage to water consumption and emissions, we challenge the status quo to reduce waste and impact, while innovating to seek viable alternatives.  As we continue working on ways to reduce our energy usage – everything from electricity to gas and water, our goal is to reach a 30% reduction by 2030.

  • Produce Sustainable Products – Although wood is our primary packaging material and is a renewable resource, our products also rely on other materials such as steel, plastic, and foam. Our aim is to create and contribute highly valued products while minimizing our impact.

  • Focus on Improvement & Innovation – While our primary focus is on creating smart and efficient packaging solutions, we are always on the lookout for new opportunities to innovate and improve our products and processes. Conner is focused on innovation and improvement in both our products and how we make them.  We are committed to working with our customers to use fewer materials in their packaging and we’re pursuing alternative packaging materials.
